The project:
Problem:
In remote-first companies, product development often becomes fragmented. PMs, designers, engineers, and stakeholders use siloed tools and workflows, leading to delays, confusion, and misalignment.
Challenge:
How might we create a shared digital space for cross-functional teams to align, collaborate, and track product progress—all without disrupting their existing workflows?
Figma playground:
Goals & Objectives:
Reduce miscommunication and inefficiencies in remote product teams.
Improve visibility of progress and ownership across functions.
Support async and synchronous collaboration equally.
Integrate into existing ecosystems (Figma, Jira, Notion).
Discovery & Research:
I conducted interviews and surveys with 7 professionals across disciplines (PMs, designers, engineers, and QA leads) working in remote setups.
Key Insights:
Fragmented tool:
"We use Slack, Notion, Jira, and Figma, but there’s no one place that shows where we are as a team."Handoff confusion:
"Design handoffs still happen over email or Slack messages. It’s easy to miss context."
Define:
Co-Create is a shared workspace that centralizes project goals, progress, design assets, and team communication in one simple interface.
Key Features:
Project Canvas: High-level goals, owners, milestones, and links
Progress Tracker: Integration-based timeline from idea to dev
Live Comments: Comment on Figma/Jira links with full context
Decision Log: A searchable, chronological record of decisions
Impact (Hypothetical)
Based on user feedback and typical inefficiencies in remote teams, I project the following improvements:
30% faster handoff process between design and development
40% increase in perceived alignment among cross-functional teams
2 fewer meetings/week, thanks to async documentation and decisions
